14 months old

While I was playing with Max outside today in the late afternoon I took advantage of the sun setting and took a few new photos before his first haircut. I added a few recent shots at the end too that I haven't yet shared.

"Abortion Kills Children"

So I'm driving down College Road today. I see some people next to the road holding signs that say things like "Abortion Kills Children", "Jesus will forgive us", "Adoption is the loving way", so and so forth. Obviously, on a Sunday afternoon there had been a plan at a church this morning to have the entire congregation gather on our main road and express themselves. I have no problem with expressing one's feeling, as a matter of fact, I commend that action. However, if you are choosing to picket to make a difference, to make a change, then you really should consider what your message does to others. They probably chanted all they way home about how many people they affected in a good way, how many women they converted. All they really did today was convert a few weak minded that didn't have any opinion on the subject. Those I am thinking would be very few. It's like religion and politics, abortion is a very controversal issue and most people have a very strong opinion on the issue. To throw in the faces of passerbyers on an easy Sunday afternoon very strong statements on signs held by hundreds of people of all ages and both genders for many miles is a either a slap in the face or a real crowd pleaser. What's the point? You basically did nothing more than express yourself. Way to go! And last time I checked a man and a prepuberty child would have no frame of reference.
Here's the mystery unfolded. You have two women pregnant and neither was planned. One woman chooses to have the child, either raise it or adopt out, either way she thought of her pregnancy as a life growing inside of her. The other woman aborts, she thought of her pregnancy as a condition that will change her life forever, and she chose what was best for HER. No one else. Just her. Who's wrong? Well until you've been there, you really shouldn't answer that.
If you truly feel so strongly about an issue then MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! Don't be so close minded to think that mere personal expression is all the effort you need to put forth. That's the problem with the world today. Think about what you COULD do that might make a change. Here's an idea. Do what is neccessary to make it so that an abortion clinic is required to show a woman that the condition is actually a life, a person, already mapped out with physical and mental traits. Make it requirement for clinics to show the little arms and legs moving. Let the woman thinking of herself HEAR the baby's heart beating. I think they don't do any of that in a clinic. No I think that is forbidden. That might make a difference. Or just stand on the street with all the other sheep with your shread of self expression and convince yourself you made a difference when deep down inside you know you get off on ruffeling some feathers and hearing a few honks.
